Hi! We're Powered By Flowers - your All-Inclusive Wedding Musicians! We'll play live music at your ceremony and cocktail hour, DJ your reception, MC the whole event, even write custom music just for your special day!

We're a husband and wife duo based in Grand Rapids, MI who love playing music together and bringing our grossly-in-love energy with us everywhere we go! We believe the best weddings are the ones with the most personal touches, and music is one of the most powerful ways to share your story with your loved ones.

Live music for your Ceremony

Choose your favorite songs for those special moments like walking down the aisle, and we'll play piano arrangements of them live. We can also improvise freely in a variety of styles!

Want something different than the standard string quartet versions of pop songs that everyone else plays while guests are being seated? We'd love to write custom string arrangements of YOUR favorite music!

Is there a special song you'd love a vocal performance of? Mar would love to sing it for you! She is classically trained and also well-versed in pop, jazz, soul, you name it!

Or even better - we'll write you an original song that captures your unique love story and perform it live either during the ceremony or the toasts/special dances part of the reception. As an added bonus, we can even record it in our studio for you so you'll have it forever!

Live music for your cocktail hour

We love getting the party kicked off with live music! With Aaron on the keys and Mar on vocals, we can play just about any style or era you'd like! From jazz standards to Motown to soul, funk, rock, pop, oldies, newies, - you name it, we'll play it! Aaron can even break out the saxophone if you really want to get the party started!

DJ services for the reception

When it's really time to party, we'll break out the dance tunes so you and your guests can let loose and CELEBRATE! Whatever genres/eras you and your guests are into, we've got you covered! We'll work together to curate a night of music that everyone on your guest list can get down to!

As an added bonus, let us know if you REALLY want some late night party vibes as the night goes on. Aaron is also a producer and DJ of electronic dance music so this is where he really shines! If EDM is your thing, he'd love to put together a late night after-party-style DJ set to take your celebration to the next level. He can even produce an original track just for you!

Other services

We provide all sound equipment for the whole day and night, including set-up and tear-down. Our job is to make your lives as stress-free as possible on the most magical day of your lives.

We will also MC the entire day from start to finish, ensuring that everything runs according to schedule, everyone knows where they need to be, and all transitions run smoothly.

Mar is also ordained as a wedding officiant! If you're looking for someone to craft a custom ceremony with you that really captures your unique love story, she'd love to help!

About Us

Hi, we're Aaron and Mar!

We've been married since 2023 but we've been doing music together since the moment we first met in 2019, and individually since we were toddlers!

When we're not doing music, we love traveling the country in our beloved roadtrip van, Flo. Over the last four years, she's taken us all the way up the east coast to Maine, down south to Padre Island in Texas, and all the way across the northern states to the Pacific Northwest! Not to mention many adventures in our home state of Michigan, especially the UP!

Aaron studied music education at Grand Valley State University with clarinet as his primary instrument, though these days you'll rarely find him without his saxophone! He has been teaching middle and high school band for the past 8 years and currently also teaches music production. He has been playing piano since age 3 and has a special talent for improvising on the keys in a style that's warm, nostalgic, and free-flowing. In addition to piano, clarinet, and saxophone, he is also proficient on every band instrument!

Aaron's biggest passion as a musician is producing and DJing his own original electronic music as TechTonic. He aims to bring together a fusion of natural and electronic sounds, and his live performances are different than anything else you'll find in the EDM world! He performs all original bass music in his unique style and layers it with live saxophone, keys, and guest vocal performances from Mar and others. He also produces tracks for others in a variety of genres and teaches production lessons.

Mar studied music education with a vocal emphasis at Grand Rapids Community College and Grand Valley State University. She taught elementary music and middle school choir at Grand Rapids Public Schools for over 5 years and now teaches private music lessons in voice, piano, songwriting, and production.

Mar's biggest passion since childhood has always been singing. Her unique vocal style is a blend of classical, pop, jazz, and soul, and has been described by others as "if Amy Lee sang jazz."

She releases original music under the name Mar in Color, where she sings and plays piano, but the real magic comes from her arrangements. Mar is anything but a minimalist and loves arranging string quartets, brass trios, and choir parts for her music. She loves crafting a grand sound full of lush layers, chaotic percussion, and intense build-ups. Her debut album which features all of those things was recorded and produced by Mar herself, with mixing and mastering done by Aaron.

We love the fact that we have complementary skill sets in music and are always exploring new ways to collaborate with each other. We just released an EP together that combines Mar's singing and songwriting with Aaron's electronic production style and we've been having so much fun performing it all over Michigan!

For our own wedding, we went all out on the music of course! Mar arranged a symphony for while the guests were being seated, with melodies woven together from every song either of us had ever written, together or separately! Then Aaron wrote and produced two new original tracks for the processional and recessional. During the ceremony, Mar also performed an original song she had written for Aaron when they first fell in love.

And at the end of the night, everyone got down to a very special DJ set of Aaron's original electronic music that he put together just for the occasion! As an added bonus, our guests got to take home a CD with all of that music! We felt so lucky that our musical talents and skills allowed us to make every detail of our wedding day SO personal, and we'd love to help you do the same!
